The business
Cafe Jadí grows and sells specialty coffee from Vásquez de Coronado in Costa Rica. The brand is warm and personal, the kind of small business where the people behind it care about every detail, from the beans to the way the website feels. They already had a website they liked: a clean, mobile-friendly design with an About page, a Connect page, and a feed pulling in their Instagram.
The problem
The website was running on a developer platform meant for building and testing software, not for hosting a business's public website for years. That works for a prototype. For a real brand, it creates quiet risks:
- You depend on someone else's platform. If their pricing, rules, or uptime change, your website is along for the ride.
- Updates are fragile. Pushing a change meant working inside a setup that could break in ways that are hard to predict.
- No one was looking after it. Backups, security, and the domain were the owner's problem, on top of running the actual coffee business.
Cafe Jadí did not need a redesign. They needed their website to sit somewhere dependable, and they needed someone to look after it so they could go back to making coffee.
What we did
We took the website exactly as it was and gave it a stronger foundation underneath. In a single day, start to finish, with no time where the website was offline for visitors:
- Rebuilt the website on our own server. The same design and content, now hosted on infrastructure we own and control, not a shared platform.
- Set up automatic deploys. Now, when an approved change is ready, it ships to the live website on its own. No manual steps, no chance to fumble a release.
- Put the website behind Cloudflare. Faster loading for visitors, a free security layer, and a clean address: type the bare domain or the "www" version and you land in the same place.
- Switched the domain over carefully. We pointed jadicafe.com to its new home and confirmed the live website matched, before turning off the old one.
The website never changed for visitors. Everything underneath it did.
The result
Cafe Jadí now has a website that stands on its own. It loads quickly, it is backed up and secured, and the owners no longer have to think about where it lives or whether it will still be there next year. When they want a change, they send us an email and we make it. Their first year of hosting and care is on the house.
Because the website is plain, fast files rather than a heavy app, it costs almost nothing to run and there is very little that can break. That is the whole point of our Hosting & Care plan: you keep the website you love, and we treat it like one of our own.
The bigger picture
This is a small project, but it is a clear example of how we think. A lot of businesses are running on tools that were fine to start with and have quietly become a liability, an aging platform, a manual process, a system only one person understands. We move that work onto something modern and durable, automate the parts that should run on their own, and then stay on to look after it.
Whether it is a website, an internal tool, or an AI agent answering customer questions, the pattern is the same: reduce the friction, remove the single points of failure, and hand you back your time. That is what a partnership with us looks like.
Running on something that's holding you back?
If a website, a tool, or a process is starting to feel fragile, that is exactly the kind of problem we like to solve. Let's talk about it.
